MARIE VINAY - Director & Photographer
Marie has been directing films for 6 years in the worlds of fashion, beauty, culture, and music. From TV spots to authentic portraits of artists and models (including Boy George, Drew Barrymore, Kendall Jenner, Taylor Hill and Pénélope Bagieu), Marie’s authentic documentary-like approach differentiates her work from stereotypical advertising norms. Marie recently created and directed the ‘Be A Man’ public awareness campaign for la Maison des Femmes tackling the norms of masculinity and the impact of silent bystanders of violence against women. With both French and Australian nationalities, she has lived in Paris, Sydney, Los Angeles, London, and Mexico City. Marie is now based in Marseille, where she created SÒR, an NGO initiating projects around feminist issues (Talking Circles, film projections, exhibitions, creative handbooks etc.) She also teaches and supports student projects at the Kourtrajme film school. Co-created with anthropologist Adélaïde Vinay, Marie directed the documentary “Pluriel.le.s” - conversations with 15+ women of diverse ages, sexualities, ethnicities and backgrounds on their relationship with sex and sexuality. A longer documentary series is currently in development. Marie directed the young actress Louise Chevillotte in her first short film "Original Kid” and is currently writing a new film about gender roles within couples. Marie is also a film (analog) photographer for editorial, music and fashion projects.
