Mara Zampariolo's photos are peopled by freaks, fur-clad acrobats, grease-painted clowns, tattooed pregnant women and other zany creatures. Through an aesthetic both Rock 'n' Roll and Glam, she highlights the fragility and authentic animal nature of all these characters, like a highly colorful and uncompromising portrait gallery which could be her own family's. Her videos thrust these images into a dreamlike, off-the-wall universe.
