Nicolas BARY - Director & Photographer
Born November on 28th 1980, Nicolas Bary grew up in a family of musicians. Twenty years later, he stopped his film studies and started working on sets. On the side, he produces and directs many ambitious short-movies and at the age of 26, Nicolas started directing Trouble at Timpetill adapted from Henry Winterfeld’s novel. The cast includes Adèle Exarchopoulos, Carole Bouquet and Gérard Depardieu. This family movie was released in 2008 in more than 35 different countries around the world. In 2013, Nicolas shot his second long called The Scapegoat a film adaptation of Daniel Pennac’s best-seller novel, Au Bonheur des Ogres, with Bérénice Bejo, Raphaël Personnaz, Emir Kusturica and Isabelle Huppert. In 2017, he shot the movie Le Petit Spirou, an adaptation of the very famous Belgium comics in the “Editions Dupuis”. He also develops various feature film projects, television series and even a comic strip, as a director, screenwriter and producer. In 2018, Nicolas directed the music video for a group of longtime friends, the Cats on Trees. "If You Feel" is entirely shot in Montreal in a marked urban space. Nicolas Bary shows a particular interest in virtual reality. He therefore began an ambitious serial project called Polaris which he co-produced with Montreal studio Félix & Paul. Inspired by the world of Philippe Tessier, it is about an underwater dive into a destroyed world where men have been forced to take refuge in the depths of the oceans.
